A little about me...

Howdy! My name is Thomas and I have been in the tech world for more than half of my life, starting by helping friends in highschool, and then going to college and working for Tarleton State University's IT team and then to Sam Houston State University where I worked both in service desk and then the tech shop (the field technicians). I would constantly help students and friends outside of work with their computers in one way or another, installing software, removing viruses, troubleshooting printer issues, and on it went. I eventually landed working for a Networking Security company out of Plano where I help detect network anomalies and build software and engineer solutions for many clients. I have an affinity for Linux but have long troubleshooted Windows operating systems. I know Macs fairly decent, as they are mostly a pretty *nix system, but I have troubleshooted these the least. Outside of tech, I love Texas and the history of the greatest state in the Union. I actively study many languages and read a lot of history, mostly about Texas and the Roman Republic.

Lupīnus Texēnsis

The "LT" in "LT Computer Services" comes from Lupīnus Texēnsis, which most Texans would know as the bluebonnet. Or rather, it is one of the bluebonnets, and one of the five state flowers of Texas (all five are bluebonnets). One of the reasons I chose this name has to do with my love for Texas and my love for Latin (the name being the Latin botanical name), but another reason is how the bluebonnet itself works. The name in Latin means "the Texan Lupine", which both "lupine" and the Latin "lupīnus" comes from the Latin "lupus" meaning "wolf". Originally, the bluebonnet was thought to be a "wolf" flower, or a flower that devoured the soil around it because they were often seen growing in thin soil which didn't support other vegetation. However, this was not what was actually happening. It turns out, the bluebonnet has a symbiotic (mutual) relationship with a bacterium called Rhizobium. In the process, the bluebonnet actually helps fertilize the soil by adding Nitrogen back into the soil. And this is the main reason I chose the bluebonnet to represent my company. I intend on harboring mutually beneficial relationships with my clients in an effort to help create a better world in general. Business should only be done if both parties stand to gain. I believe that positive business interactions will create happy clients, who will spread that happiness.
